Canada Job Grant

The Canada Job Grant (CJG) is a Canadian government funding program designed to reduce the costs of providing third-party skills training to new and existing employees. Launched in 2014 as a 6-year program, the Canada Job Grant allocates upwards of $194M annually to support the upskilling of employees so that they can perform new tasks and become more employable.

Funding

Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG)

Organizations with less than 100 employees: Up to 83% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $15,000 per trainee.
Organizations with more than 100 employees: Up to 50% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $10,000 per trainee.

Canada-Alberta Job Grant (CAJG)

Up to 66% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $15,000 per trainee.

Canada-BC Job Grant (CBCJG)

Stream 1 – Foundational Training Stream: Up to 100% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $10,000 per trainee.
Stream 2 – Technical Skills Training Stream: Up to 80% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $10,000 per trainee.
Stream 3 – Workforce Training Stream: Up to 60% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $5,000 per trainee.

Canada-Manitoba Job Grant (CMJG)

Up to 66% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $10,000 per trainee.

Canada-Newfoundland Job Grant (CNJG)

Organizations with less than 50 employees: Up to 83% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $10,000 per trainee.
Organizations with more than 50 employees:
Up to 66% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $10,000 per trainee.
Organizations training an unemployed person: Up to 100% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $15,000 per trainee.

Workplace Innovation and Productivity Skills Incentive (WIPSI)

Organizations with less than 50 employees: Up to 100% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $10,000
Organizations with more than 50 employees: Up to 50% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $10,000

Canada-Prince Edward Island Job Grant (CPEIJG)

Up to 66% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $10,000 per trainee.

Canada-Saskatchewan Job Grant (CSJG)

Up to 66% of eligible training costs to a maximum of $10,000 per trainee.

Applicant Eligibility

Training is intended for employed individuals acquiring new skills for their current job, or to prepare for another job with the same employer, and for unemployed individuals seeking a new job. The employer must have a job available at the end of the training for the individual(s) being trained.

Training must not exceed one year of duration and must be delivered by one of the following:

  • Colleges or applied arts or technologies
  • Publicly-assisted universities
  • School boards
  • Private trainers operating in compliance with the Private Colleges Career Act, 2005
  • Union-based training centres
  • Product vendors
