Premier Doug Ford in Support of Economic Development Incentives for Rural Ontario
Ontario’s new Premier, Doug Ford, was sworn in on June 29th and announced his Cabinet Ministers as part of that process. Within his election platform, Mr. Ford proposed to maintain a rural incentive program that supports job creation and, accordingly, this fund applies to businesses outside of the Greater Toronto-Hamilton Area. If your business is planning to make a significant capital investment within the next few years, you should consider applying to either the SWODF or EODF.
Additionally, the Canada Ontario Job Grant (COJG) remains open and accepting applications. This is a national program with a 5 year bi-lateral agreement between the province of Ontario and the federal government. As a result, Premier Ford cannot easily unwind this program, and there has been no indication that he intends to do so.
