Grants and Incentives Increase
With the impending Federal election, there has been a noticeable increase in activity within the realm of Grants and Incentives.
The most recent announcement being the roll out of the relatively new 10 year infrastructure and 5 year training programs.
A common theme is that the government of the day consistently works at improving the efficiency and results achieved through program spending in order to grow the economy, within specific strategic sectors. The for-profit industry sectors that have been receiving the largest portion of funding have been; manufacturing, food processing, and the advanced technology sectors. Lately, the Harper government has increased their efforts within targeted grant programs to influence private business decisions and drive strategic economic growth. This is a result of the Jenkins Panel Report and is tied to the general reduction of funding within the SR&ED program.
